The atmospheric folk/black metal band from the American West, Wayfarer, released today their new album: "A Romance With Violence", via Profound Lore Records.
This is the fourth full-length work by the Denver, Colorado band, which has been launching their material with a 2 year gap, ever since their debut demo in 2012.
The following track "Vaudeville", was the second single presented by Wayfarer, aimed at promoting the arrival of this new album. The first single was "The Iron Horse (Gallows Frontier, Act II).
The Portuguese black metal band Gaerea released today its new single "Null", aimed to promote their upcoming second full-length album "Limbo", scheduled to come out on 24th July of the present year.
The anonymous band from Porto, known for wearing their masks at all times, has already earned a lot of international recognition in their 4 years career, especially after performing a tour in China last year, also allowing them to sign afterwards with the label Season of Mist.

(Just a small note for our non-Portuguese readers, since the band is Portuguese and I'm also Portuguese, it wouldn't made sense to conduct this interview in English, therefore I made this exception of the blog's main language, we apologize dear friends).
The Swedish atmospheric black metal/ambient one man project Lustre, just released today its new full length-album "The Ashes of Light" via Nordvis Produktion, and is available on CD/LP/Digital editions.
The multi-instrumentalist Nachtzeit started the Lustre project in 2008, and in that same year launched its first work, the EP "Serenity". Since then, a big discography has been built so far, with a total of 5 EP's and 7 albums as of today, among some other releases.
As the name tells, the track bellow it's the first of "The Ashes of Light", that keeps up the usual icy melodies, haunted screams and an atmosphere as thick as the winter snows, as Lustre is known for.
The Finnish psychedelic black metal band Oranssi Pazuzu, released this single "Uusi teknokratia" in advance to promote their upcoming 5th full-length album entitled "Mestarin kynsi", which will be out next Friday through Nuclear Blast.
The band that is named after the Babylonian demon Pazuzu, the name meaning in English Orange Pazuzu "the demon of the wind with the colour of cosmic energy", continues with this new album to provide the usual abstract and wicked musical sojourn, taking even the most calm and peaceful listerners on a disturbing and unquiet experience in their own minds.

Malnàtt is an Italian melodic black metal band coming from Emilia-Romagna, in Bologna, and this track "Fantasimi" is taken from their 2008 full-length album "La voice dei morti".
Founded in 2015, the French black metal band Pénitence Onirique released their first material in May the following year, with the full-length album: "V.I.T.R.I.O.L".
Two years later, in July, the single: "Aphonie" was launched, and their most recent album: "Vestige", was released exactly one month ago. Bellow is the track sharing the brand new album's name:
Taken from their 2011 full-length album "Vinum Intus", is this track from symphonic black metal band Alghazanth.
Formed in 1995, in Finland, their name was given due to a dream of the drummer Gorath Moonthorn, in which the name Alghazanth was revealed to him by a deathbringer spirit in the shape of a white wolf.
They self called their sound as Majestic Black Metal, having released eight albums and one EP, up until their split-up in 2018.
One of the most well known projects by ex-Dimmu Borgir ICS Vortex: Borknagar, a Norwegian black metal band with viking and folk elements. Taken from their 2001 studio album: "Empiricism", is this track "The Stellar Dome":
Undoubtedly my favourite black metal song ever, and one of my top metal tracks as well, "Jesus' Tod", or "Jesu død" in the original Norwegian version, from the one and only Burzum.
It's taken from the fourth full-length album: "Filosofem", created by the genius mastermind but very controversial Varg Vikernes, a.k.a Count Grishnackh, an iconic figure in the so called "True Norwegian Black Metal" scene. The album was recorded in March 1993, at Grieghallen Studio in Bergen, but was only released in 1996, when Varg was already imprisoned.
The front cover, featuring a woman playing a birch trumpet, is a close-up of a 1900's paiting made by Norwegian artist Theodor Kittelsen, entitled: "Op Under Fjeldet Toner en Lur", which in English translates to: "Up in the Hills a Clarion Call Rings Out". The album's booklet includes more artwork by this painter.
Also the first track of "Filosofem": "Burzum", or in the German tracklist named "Dunkelheit", it's the first real Burzum track, and according to Varg, it was supposed to appear in the previous album: "Hvis lyset tar oss", but the quality was so poor at the time, he decided to discard it.
Much of the work made by Vikernes, which he used to write and create all of the music in his one man project: Burzum, was without a doubt a huge influence for many Metal artists out there, especially in the black metal genre. These guitar riffs are just amazing! And the bad raw quality of the production (made on purpose, just like many other black metal bands did at this time), only makes the music better!
For me personally, this album and this track in particular, were a captivating starting point to listen to more on extreme metal, I've listened to this so many times in the past, and honestly as you can see, I still do!
Today I end up this week of special posts dedicated to MetalMad's Oath Circle Meeting II, none other with Portuguese black metal band Gaerea, and the official video of this track: "Absent", taken from their debut full-length album: "Unsettling Whispers" released last year.
Gaerea were formed in Porto, back in May 2016, and are made of five elements which prefer to stay anonymous, wearing masks on their live shows for that purpose. When asked about that, they simply reply: "Everyone wears a mask!".
In November of their starting year, the band launched their first EP titled after the own name: "Gaerea", and as mentioned above, two years later the first full-length release came out to the World.
With such a short career already, Gaerea have been conquering great international recognition, and their last mini-tour of eight gigs in China back in May is a good proof of that, being also one of the few Portuguese bands to perform in Asian ground.
For all of these reasons to start with, needless to say it will be a tremendous honor to welcome Gaerea on stage tonight at the DTOX bar in Funchal, Madeira, and feel their mighty and austere black metal echoing through the venue, also know as Mad Dungeon.
To finish, I will quote here how Gaerea describe themselves, which pretty much says what their project and identity are:
"Let's make one thing clear. We need to stress the fact that our era is lost in a huge void of numbness. We are here to bring and present you what your system could not solve by it self. We'll cover the daylight with ashes and smash the massive skull that's blocking your brain and will to evolve. We're GAEREA."
The Swiss avant-garde black metal band Schammasch, have released a new album last week, on 8th November: "Hearts of no Light", their fourth full-length production, and this was its second single: "A Paradigm of Beauty".
A nice deep black metal track, having a gothic touch in the middle, and as the singer/guitarist/bassist C.S.R said, this was the most abstract piece he ever wrote, but at the same time it was the most natural composition, nothing more honest and natural could have been achived here, according to him.
